Weighing In

I stopped eating the night you told me
I was too fat to fuck.
Four months later,
my bones stood proudly beneath my skin-
self-worth depleted.
On and off the scale,
twelve times a day.
A few bites in and a “I’m still full from lunch-”
the lunch I never consumed
but I did devour your words.
